Strengthening Farmer Collectives & Improving Resilience of Vulnerable Communities

Project Period: October 1, 2019-till date

Project Funded by: Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (Clnl) under Sustain Plus platform

Objective of the project: To contribute to the realization of the SDG 1, 2 and 13 (No poverty, Zero hunger and climate action) by contributing towards sustainable well-being and resilience of small farmer households of the flood prone district of Morigaon, Assam, India through adoption of environment friendly technologies and conservation agriculture. To this end, RGVN had proposed that in the first year, 750 smallholder households residing in 5 contiguous villages of Bhurbhanda block are capacitated to increase their agricultural production and income by implementing solar energy systems and efficiency technologies and adoption of conservation agriculture.

Project Activities:

  1. Installation of two solar pumps: The installation of two solar pumps has been completed at Digholbori and Udari orchards respectively. Both the pumps are now in working condition and serving the community. A post-installation training will, however, be carried out to ensure that the technology reaches all members of the community and they know how to use the machinery. Two more solar pumps are set to be installed at paddy fields of Digholbori and Kanphala villages respectively.
  2. NE Trade Facilitation Fair: 216 beneficiaries were part of the NE Trade Facilitation Fair organised by Sustain+ and other partners, at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati. The beneficiaries were exposed to different forms of solar and energy-efficient technology, along with farm machinery, that may be helpful for them for their farming processes.
